abstract
abstract quantitative analysis of production through evaluating the level of factor usage is a major part in agricultural management, which aims at increasing production by optimum usage of resources. this study has estimated and analyzed stochastic frontier production function and calculated technical efficiency of semi-mechanized broiler farms located in gorgan district. the survey data were gathered by completing questionnaires in spring 2009. using cobb-douglas stochastic frontier production function, the technical efficiency and its' determinants were derived. based on the measurements, various management and scale groups were compared. the results present that the average technical efficiency is 57.66 percent in semi-mechanized. this indicates that farms have inefficiency in their technical performance, and they are potentially able to increase their products. based on the findings, pathological conditions, creating institutions to use expert labor as well as holding educational and extensional sessions in order to improve knowledge of poultry holders is inevitably needed. in this regard, the priority should be given to issue operating permissions for specialists and trained labors. while, under the condition of implementing targeting subsidies program, the government needs to consider suitable price and trade policies to reduce and to control the irregular and unpredictable fluctuations in inputs and marketing products with coordinated and targeted policies.

full textthe comparative assessment of technical efficiency in the iran cement industry (stochastic frontier analysis approach)
the different model specifications have been proposed to estimate time-varying technical efficiency in the last two decades. these models have resulted different efficiency scores based on their built-in specifications. this study investigates the temporal pattern of technical efficiency based on cornwell, sickles, and schmidt (css, 1990) as well as lee and schmidt (ls, 1993) models. in order t...
full textTechnical Efficiency of Teaching Hospitals in Iran: The Use of Stochastic Frontier Analysis, 1999–2011
Background Hospitals are highly resource-dependent settings, which spend a large proportion of healthcare financial resources. The analysis of hospital efficiency can provide insight into how scarce resources are used to create health values. This study examines the Technical Efficiency (TE) of 12 teaching hospitals affiliated with Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS) between 1999 and 2...
full textEfficiency Measurement with the Weibull Stochastic Frontier*
In this paper we consider the Weibull distribution as a model for technical efficiency. The distribution has a shape and scale parameter like the gamma distribution and can be a reasonable competitor in practice. The techniques are illustrated using artificial data as well as a panel of Spanish dairy farms.
